With Professor Li Qi, Professor Shang Dejiang as the academic leaders, the main research directions of the team lie in the physical mechanism of underwater noise source and noise field, characteristics of marine acoustic environment, detection methods of underwater acoustic targets, andthe radiation, measurement, identification and control of underwater structure vibration noise. The team has undertaken more than 20 projects such as National Program on Key Basic Research Project of China (973 Program), project of 530 Special Fund, projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China, equipment pre-research project, project of basic research of national defense technology and other government sponsored research projects. The team also signed more than 30 commercial contracts for the research and development of various types of civilian products. The team has received more than 50 million yuan of research funding.

In recent years, the team has made significant progress in the measurement of radiated acoustic power from complex underwater sound sourcebased on the reverberation method, the design of propeller<acoustic insulation cover, the test of acoustic insulation performance and other areas. The team has published more than 50 SCI and EI indexed papers in academic journals of home and abroad, has been granted 10 invention patents and has won 8 provincial and ministerial level science and technology progress awards. At present the team consists of 10 members, including 4 professors, 2 associate professors, and 4 lectures.

As an advanced professional training base in the field of underwater structure vibration noise in China, the teams’ graduated students are mainly concentrated in the systems engineering research institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), Institutes of 701, 702, 715, 719 of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and other renowned research institutes of underwater acoustic technology in China.
