1961: Academician Yang Shie founded the College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering.
1987: Selected as a National Key Discipline by Ministry of Education.
1994: China's first large-scale comprehensive acoustic deep-sea investigation led by Academician Yang Shie achieved a great success.
1994: Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense approved the construction plan of the Key Laboratory of Underwater Acoustic Science and Technology.
2001: The Key Laboratory of Underwater Acoustic Science and Technology was officially designated as a national key laboratory by the State Council.
2010: The new buildings for the College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering and the Key Laboratory of Underwater Acoustic Science and Technology were completed.
2015: National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Underwater Acoustic Engineering was approved.
2015: The construction of Qingdao Marine Information Science and Technology Research Center (Phase I) started.
2016: Received the National Defense Technology Innovation Team Award for Underwater Acoustic Engineering.
2017: Received the 2nd prize of the National Award for Technological Invention, which is the first national award for general projects in the history of Harbin Engineering University.
2017: Key Laboratory of Marine Information Acquisition and Security of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is approved.
