Short Bio of the presenter:
Minqing Wang, male, Postdoc, Professor, Doctoral supervisor. He was selected into the Ministry of education new century excellent talents support program project; the cross-century academic leader of Northwestern Polytechnical University (NWPU); associate director of the Xi’an branch of Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, etc. He is the winner of National 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertations Award, Baosteel Education Foundation Award, Youth Science and Technology of Shanxi Province Award, etc. He has presided over and undertaken research projects from national natural science foundation of China, Ministry of education special foundation, national defense pre-research, etc. He has published two textbooks of “Fundamentals of Noise and Vibration Control Technology” and “New Encyclopedia of Practical Skills in MS-DOS”; has been granted more than 10 national invention patents and 3 software copy rights. He has cultivated more than 40 doctoral and master’s students. His main research areas are: theories and methods of structure acoustic design; structure vibration and noise control technology; mechanical and electrical engineering, and automation.
Abstract of the presentation:
The presentation will adopt the form of popular science, combining the major of vibration and noise in which the presenter is pursuing, and the related fields of aerospace, aviation, shipbuilding, mechanics, control and so on, based on the specific projects and technical problems, through the case studies to transit engineering problems into physics model and then simple mathematical models. The presentation will introduce the personal experiences and practices in how to solve the engineering problems by abstract the mechanics behind the problems, and finding the best fit solutions. Meanwhile, combining a few typical cases of some famous Chinese scholars, the presentation will introduce the merits of reverse thinking and innovative analysis, and also the importance of interdisciplinary crossing and integration. The goal of this presentation is to inspire the students to master the knowledges from mathematical mechanics, mechanical and electrical engineering, and control information, etc., so as to realize their dreams in exploring the space and the ocean.
