The College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering, formerly known as the sonar major of the "Harbin Military Industry" Naval Engineering Department, was founded in 1953. After more than 70 years of development, it has become a talent training and scientific research base with the largest school scale, the most complete discipline direction and the strongest faculty, and has made important contributions to the construction of national Marine equipment and the development of Marine industry.

The published series "Modern Water Acoustics Technology and Application" filled the gap in domestic teaching materials in the field of hydroacoustics technology.
