The underwater acoustic engineering research team led by Academician Desen Yang was selected into the first batch of “National University Huang Danian-style Team”. Professor Dajun Sun’s research team won the “Outstanding Contribution Award” of China Ocean Engineering Consulting Association.

Young Talents Stand Out, and Dajun Sun and Jingwei Yin were selected into the Changjiang Scholars Program in 2017
Dajun Sun was selected as the Changjiang Distinguished Professor, the National Million Talents Project, the Outstanding Young Talent in National Defense Science and Technology, and the Longjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor. Jingwei Yin was selected as Changjiang Young Scholar, the Outstanding Youth of Heilongjiang Province, and Harbin Youth Award. Jin Fu and Cuie Zheng won Youth Science and Technology Award of Heilongjiang Province.

The College Significantly Improves the Capability in Undertaking Critical Tasks for National Defense, with Several Major and Key Projects Approved
The 2 National Key Research and Development Projects “Research and development of 6000 meters deep sea black box searching sonar”, and “New concept seabed target searching submersible based on extensible hull” led by College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering were approved. Meanwhile, 1 Natural Science Foundation Key Program Project, 1 National Defense Key Innovation Project were also approved. The projects on polar acoustics and earth sound were included in the cultivation of key projects.

Deep Sea High-precision Underwater Acoustic Integrated Positioning Technology is Selected as Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progress in Universities
“Deep Sea High-precision Underwater Acoustic Integrated Positioning Technology” presided by Professor Dajun Sun won the second prize of National Technological Invention Award for General Projects. “Deep Sea High-precision Underwater Acoustic Integrated Positioning Technology” was also selected as “Top Ten Scientific and Technological Progress in Universities” and was the only selected project in the field of ocean engineering.

Internationalization of Talent Cultivation has Reached a New Stage, with Outstanding Students Studying in Famous Universities in Britain, France, Russia and other Countries for the Short-term Study and Joint Training
41 outstanding undergraduates were sent to Le Mans University in France, Southampton University in England and the Far Eastern Federal University in Russia for course study and joint training. The college has sent teachers to visit Southampton University for several times, and also invited the leaders of Southampton University to China to discuss about the establishment of joint college. 15 students has been enrolled into the first Sino-French acoustic class.

The Quality of Students Has Continuously Set School Records, and Historic Breakthroughs Have Been Made in Innovation and Entrepreneurship
College of Underwater Acoustic Engineering employed 14 experts from enterprises and institutions in the field of underwater acoustics as “Honorary Class Advisors” of undergraduate classes. The system of undergraduate advisor was tried out, 44 undergraduates and 33 advisors matched successfully. The percentage of recommended postgraduate students who stayed in the college for further study is 78%, ranking first in the colleges of science and engineering in the University.

Marine Information Acquisition and Security was selected as the Key Laboratory of Ministry of Industry and Information, and Marine Information Technology was selected as the Key Laboratory of Heilongjiang Province.

CUAE Successfully Hosted the Academic Conference with the Highest Level and Largest Scale in China's Acoustic Field
On September 23, the 2017 national acoustic conference of the acoustical society of China was held in Harbin Engineering University. This is the highest level and largest scale conference in China's acoustic field. During the three days conference, participants carried out valuable academic discussions and exchanges with the theme of Intelligent Acoustic, Leading Innovation.
