Tang Jialing, a deep-dive hero, returned to his alma mater on November 22nd, the first open day of Marine Culture Museum. Academician Yang Desen and Tang Jialing gave a vivid lesson for young teachers and students in the research team of Underwater Target Characteristics Test and Control Technology. In combination with their corresponding work, two representatives of the 19th National Congress of CPC from our school shared their personal experiences of attending the National Congress with the young students, about the maritime power dream.
In the central hall of the Marine Culture Museum, students in the Underwater Target Characteristics Test and Control Technology Team stood beside the globe. Academician Yang Desen pointed to the deepest place on the globe and said: “There are endless mysteries about the ocean in this point, where researchers in the field of Underwater Acoustics will continue to explore. 70% of the Earth are oceans, and there are still two-thirds of the Earth’s surface have not been developed by human beings. In the future conquest of the ocean, those who can develop the ocean better will have a brighter future. This is an important part of the Chinese dream of realizing great national rejuvenation. It requires you and us to take up the tasks.”
After listening to the sentiment of Academician Yang Desen, the teachers and students all talked about their experiences, combining with their own study and research practice. Wu Di said “Understanding the oceans, caring for the oceans, and managing the oceans are the glorious mission of young people in the new era. I will try my best to make innovations and breakthroughs in the research area of sonar, and to apply what I have learned to the places need them most in the motherland.” Mo Shiqi said: “After the 19th National Congress of CPC, we scientists and technicians are greatly encouraged and inspired. General Secretary Xi Jinping gave out requirements for maritime power in the report, and pointed out the direction for the underwater acoustic research in which I am engaged. There are many difficulties needing breakthroughs in underwater acoustic area, and we need to climb the technology peaks one after the other. Overcoming the difficulties and climbing the peaks will be my life goal.”
