Yang Desen, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, born in 1957, male, Han nationality, member of Chinese Communist Party, professor, doctoral advisor. He has been dedicated in the teaching and research of underwater acoustic engineering for long term, and made outstanding contributions to the urgently needed areas in national defense, such as vector sonar, acoustic stealth technology and so on. He is the winner of Science and Technology Progress Award ofHo Leung Ho Lee Foundation” in 2014; enjoys the special government allowances of the State Council; one of the first experts engaged in vector hydrophone technology research; the convener of Discipline Review Group of State Council Academic Degrees Committee on Ship and Ocean Engineering; deputy director of the State Council Scientific Terminology Committee on Acoustics; vice chairman of the Chinese Society of Acoustics; deputy head of underwater noise group of China Shipbuilding Society; member of expert group on underwater target characteristics in general armament and naval equipment departments; member of the National Committee of Acoustics Standardization;specially-invitedexpert in National Natural Science Foundation of China; member of three national key laboratory academic committees. Professor Yang has won 17 science and technology progress awards of national, provincial, and ministerial level, among which there are two national second prize, one national third prize and three first prize in provincial and ministerial level. He is the leader of the National Defense Science and Technology Innovation Team, and Innovation Team of Ministry of Education. He has won the more than 20 awards and honorary titles, such as National Innovation Award, Science and Technology Progress Award of Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation, the highest academic achievement award in acoustics in China -“Ma Dayou” Acoustic Award, the Annual Figures of Scientific Chinese in 2010,ministerial level Young Experts with Outstanding Contributions, the Ministry of Education Cross Century Talents, the Science and Technology Industry of National Defense 511 Talent Project academic leaders,etc. He has published more than 130 papers, and has been granted 15 invention patents. He was elected as academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2015.
